Support a new Clean Air Act

Air pollution is a hidden public health crisis and it’s affecting us all.

In the UK, toxic air is linked to around 30,000 deaths every year, contributing to serious conditions like cancer, heart disease, stroke and asthma. Almost everyone in the country is breathing air that exceeds World Health Organization safety guidelines.

We have cleaned up our air before. Now, we need a new Clean Air Act fit for the 21st century – one that protects our health, meets WHO standards, and enshrines the right to breathe clean air in law.

How can you help?

  1. Write to your MP

Subject: Please support a new Clean Air Act

Dear [MP’s name],

I am writing as a constituent to ask you to support urgent action on air pollution, including the delivery of a new Clean Air Act.

Air pollution is the largest environmental risk to public health in the UK, contributing to around 30,000 deaths each year and increasing the risk of serious illnesses such as heart disease, stroke and asthma.

Yet almost all of us are still exposed to levels of pollution above World Health Organization guidelines.

I urge you to support a new Clean Air Act that:

Clean air is essential for healthier communities, protecting the NHS, and ensuring a better future for children.
